The PFC (People’s Food Co-op of Kalamazoo) exists to build and nourish an equitable, resilient community, and is cooperatively owned by over 3,800 community members. The PFC has been growing and supporting the local food system in Kalamazoo since 1970. In 2013, PFC began serving as operator of the Kalamazoo Farmers Market in partnership with the City of Kalamazoo and the community of vendors. The mission of the Kalamazoo Farmers Market is to connect customers and market businesses through honest relationships, and to support community and local economies through a thriving market culture.

Our market customers are committed to fresh and local food, and they have long-standing relationships with market vendors and the market itself. The Kalamazoo Farmers Market has been at its current location for seventy years, and over the years the market has become more than just a place to buy locally grown produce; it’s become a treasured social event and launching place for new food and artisan businesses. With over two hundred businesses to choose from over the season, we have a little something for market fans of all ages and tastes.

• 29 weeks, 7:00 to 2:00 pm every Saturday, May through November

• Hosted at a newly renovated Market site

• 8,000 website views a month

• over 25,000 social media ‘fans’ and 10,000+ weekly social media page views in-season

WHAT WILL WE DO WITH YOUR SUPPORT?

We have many event and operation specific programs that require additional funding to improve, promote, and sustain. They include, but are not limited to: event sustainability, marketing, biking initiatives, nutrition, music, and night markets.
